Subject: Pen Stand. A golden grass holder that can be used to keep pens. The skin of the dried stem of vetiver grass or kaincha is woven to produce utility and decorative items. The grass is first softened and then coiled with a needle to form strands. These braids are then woven to form the shape of the craft item and finished off with a coat of shine. Occasionally colored pigments are added to the grass. This object has been procured by State Institute for Development of Arts & Crafts (SIDAC).
