Subject: This painting is identified as Padmasambhava on UM web site. Atisa (982-1054) was an Indian Buddhist reformer whose teachings formed the basis of the Tibetan Bka'-gdams-pa ("Those Bound by Command") sect of Buddhism, founded by his disciple 'Brom-ston. He traveled to Tibet in 1038 or 1042 and established monasteries there. He died at Nyethang monastery. [Atisa]
