Subject: Ghumura. Ghumura is a particular kind of drum which is played during the Ghumura folk dance of Kalahandhi district of Odisha. In Hinduism, according to one legend, the Ghumura was made by the union of the Damru of Lord Shiva and the veena of Goddess Sarasvati. It was used by Durga to defeat the king of demons, since then the drum has been used to signify imminent victory in an upcoming war.
