Subject: Iron Craft Table. A decorative iron table. In iron sheet craft, the iron bars are cut to required lengths and beaten to shape as per design and then joined using iron wires or sometimes by rivets. If the design requires embossing and raising, wooden dice are used to apply pressure. A coat of black paint is applied to the end product. The designs are essentially tribal in nature, and sometimes abstract. This object has been loaned by State Institute for Development of Arts & Crafts (SIDAC).

Tussar silk has a rich coarse texture and natural deep gold color. Odisha is one of the major Indian states that produces silk. Tussar ghicha silk yarn is drawn by hand out of tussar moth cocoons without any twist. It is obtained mostly from pierced, cut, flimsy, insect damaged and double cocoons. This object was procured from Utkalika, Odisha State Co-operative Handicraft Corporation Ltd.

Subject: Hair Pin. A golden grass hair clip ornamented with a metal ghungroo (bell). The skin of the dried stem of vetiver grass or kaincha is woven to produce utility and decorative items. The grass is first softened and then coiled with a needle to form strands. These braids are then woven to form the shape of the craft item and finished off with a coat of shine. Occasionally colored pigments are added to the grass. This object has been procured by State Institute for Development of Arts & Crafts (SIDAC).
