Subject: View of the stupa. The base composed of three square terraces belongs to the 4th-5th century, according to signage at the site but Frederick Asher suggests a date of 8th-9th century on the basis of the brickwork.

Subject: View of the ornamentation of the stupa's base. The base has regularly spaced pilasters creating niches, a form also seen in the brick structures at Nalanda. The base must have been more elaborate with the stucco covering the brick fully intact and probably formed sculptural decor within the niches.
