Subject: Vayu: Vayu is the god of the winds and the guardian of the north-western sector of the universe. He is reckoned as one of the five elements and is often associated with Indra in the Rig Veda, as Vata with Parjanya. In a later age, Vayu had a son Hanumat who played an important role in Rama?s expedition in search of Sita. In the Mahabharata, Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, is also said to be a son of Vayu. Sculptural representations of Vayu are rare but in early medieval temples of cult gods, Vayu was shown as riding on a stag and holding a flag in his hand. Here is shown seated on a stag.

Subject: Nabagunjara. Nabgunjara depicts a composite animal in which Lord Vishnu disguised himself in the Odia version of Mahabharata. It has the head of a cock, neck of a peacock, hump of the bull, a snake for tail, and the waist of a lion. Three of its legs are from a tiger, a horse and an elephant while the fourth is a human holding a flower or a mirror.

Subject: Vishnu: Vishnu stands in contrapposto, holding his attributes of discus and conch shell in his two rear hands. His front right hand is raised in the gesture of benediction, while the left hand rests casually against his thigh. Vishnu is richly adorned with jeweled ornaments and wears a tall cylindrical crown form.
