Subject: Lajja Gauri with other figures: This large stone piece has an image of lotus-headed Lajja Gauri in a series including from left to right: a mongoose , a monkey in a tree, the goddess, a man riding forward on a bull or buffalo, and an umbrella bearer leading the procession. The tank was probably an addition to the Early Chalukya temple made by Rashtrakutas. The scene may illustrate a local story concerning Lajja Gauri.

Subject: Chhatri (Umbrella). This appliqué chhatri is an adaption of a traditional canopy that is generally used in the processions before deities to express their divinity. Appliqué is an art of cutting and stitching stylized and bold cloth designs onto a piece of base cloth which could be mounted on a frame. Appliqué items are used for ritualistic practices as well as for decorative and utilitarian needs. This object has been loaned by State Institute for Development of Arts & Crafts (SIDAC) Show House.

Subject: Rooftop Chandua (Canopy). This is an appliqué chandua or umbrella-shaped canopy used to dress up the chariots during the processions. Subject: Siali Chhata. An umbrella made from siali leaves. Siali is a creeper with large leaves that that typically grows around Sal trees, and is commonly found in the forests of Odisha. On account of its size, texture and durability, siali leaves make for a very good source of raw material for making items such as this umbrella. Interior view of the umbrella.
