Subject: Chandana Yatra. Pattachitra is a traditional, cloth-based scroll painting. Chandana Yatra meaning Sandalwood Voyage in Sanskrit, continues for 42 days at Jagannatha, Puri. This festival indicates the worshiping of the deities with sandal mixed water. Chandana yatra is divided into two periods each of 21 days - Bahar chandana or Outer Chandana and Bhitar chandana or Inner chandana. During Bahar chandana, the representative images of Rama, Krishna, Madanmohan, Lakshmi and Biswadhatri are taken in a procession to Narendra tank. Also, images of Siva from five Shiva Temples known as "Pancha Pandavas" accompany them in a procession in the Narendra tank, the images are taken in well decorated boats and are worshipped.
