Subject: Door Lintel. This lintel bears the motifs of Gaja-Lakshmi and lotus. Lintels in earliest Odishan temples indicated the deity to which a temple was dedicated. They have had an apotropaic or propitious function. Elaborate lintels have also been adopted in secular architecture where they beautify the entrance door frame in addition to indicating the ancestry of the dwellers. This object has been procured by Utkalika, Odisha State Co-operative Handicraft Corporation Ltd.
